Found! Vintage Santana / SOTA Poster

Dog eats collector’s item. We search for a replacement and stumble upon a treasure trove.

FOSOTA was founded in 2000 with funds raised from a benefit concert featuring Carlos Santana and School of the Arts students — among whom was the headliner’s son, Salvador Santana (Band 2001).

Searching through memorabilia marking FOSOTA’s 20 years of service, we turned up a piece of the event poster, along with a story about how the poster had been borrowed from a classroom wall over the summer but could not be returned due to, well, unfortunate circumstances.

All was thought to be lost to history until research revealed not only that a few copies still existed all these years later, but that the poster’s artist, Randy Tuten, was still kicking it in the East Bay. We visited Randy and picked up 10 signed posters as well as some hilarious stories about working for Bill Graham in the ’70s.
