Asawa SOTA Alumni Artists Selected for Epic Hillside Mural

Twin Walls Mural Company creates a visual narrative depicting the colorful history of Glen Park.

The Burnside Mural+ project engaged the renowned muralists to design and execute an expansive artwork to reflect a community’s history, culture, natural environment, and people — from the indigenous Ohlone to modern-day movers and shakers.

Twin Walls Mural Company, founded by Elaine Chu (Visual Arts 2000) and Marina Perez-Wong (Visual Arts 2000), takes its name from the nature of the partners’ collaborative relationship, where “ideas flow like water” between the two of them. They also share the hope that their work will inspire future generations of women of color in the art world.

Currently on view is the dynamic duo’s mural Our Ancestors’ Wildest Dreams, commissioned by SFMOMA for its exhibition Bay Area Walls (on view through October 23, 2022). Check it out!
