A Day of Celebration and Learning Centers the Stories of Indigenous Peoples

Asawa SOTA’s first Native American Heritage Summit brings together workshops in history, advocacy, activism, and artistry.

The slate of nearly twenty workshops covered topics ranging from native poetry and indigenous skateboarding to the missing and murdered Indigenous women movement and combating offensive stereotypes.

Asawa SOTA principal Caitlin Boyle noted:

This event is the product of dreams, determination, and collaboration — brought to you by students who have worked incredibly hard to amplify native voices, stories, and experiences.

FOSOTA was honored to help support the Native American Heritage Summit’s goal of elevating diverse voices and perspectives through arts-integrated learning. In so doing, we also honor the Ramaytush Ohlone (on whose unceded land we stand), who understood the interconnectedness of all things.
